Betfair market manipulation is a daily bread and butter for many traders. Markets are filled with people who have very deep pockets so they can move the market up and down just with the power of their own money. If the price goes up, they can turn its direction or hold it for a while. Market manipulators have their own interests in the market – they obviously also want to earn money.
You have to understand the rationale behind their decisions. Once you understand the market manipulator from his point of view, you can successfully deploy a strategy on it. Manipulators, also called ‘spoofers’, are very smart and as I said – they have a deep pockets so you have to outsmart them. Hopefully the video below will show you a path to understanding manipulator behaviour.
Betfair Market Manipulation Video Description:
- 0:11 – Watch the behaviour of the big Lay bet @5.30 on the second favourite.
- 0:29 – The bet is cancelled.
- 0:35 – And the market reacts by going down.
- 0:49 – The big Lay bet has arrived again @5.30 and the market quickly reacts by going up.
In the video, I showed you a clear example of Betfair market manipulation. But this is just a little tiny one! Spoofers use many different strategies and they often change their behaviour, rhythm or staking. So you can’t never be 100% right. All you need is to be right most of the time and increase your chances over time.
That’s how I often describe markets and your approach to them. Just constantly work on increasing your chances because you are a human. You can’t be right all the time. That is a common nature of all beings so there is just one solution – to accept it. I mean – accept the loss if you didn’t recognize the manipulator and you missed the train. It’s all about learning from your own mistakes.
