About this blog

Time to log what I'm doing, and how I'm getting on while working through the ebook.

I have experience of trading, so understand the terminology in the book, and use Betangel as my primary trading software.

I've never really had an success out of trading so thought it was time to really invest in myself.

My starting bank is £200, which has dwindled away over the last handful of months, and I'm no longer willing to keep topping it up. All the money used has come from matched betting, so ultimately it's not money I'm topping up from my bank, but it's still not nice feeling to lose it.

I guess my main style is scalping, that's what I feel best doing.

I've started by just looking at the 60 second money traded range on the BA ladder, and tried to scalp that range initially. Trying to look out for those round numbers/cross over points.

Hopefully I'll start to have some success as I go on.

Sticking to low stakes now, and not going crazy.

21st September

Work really is taking a priority at the moment during the week, and it taking up all my focus and attention. Had a promotion, so I'm fitting into a new role, with new challenges, so I just haven't been able to look at trading mid-week or give it full attention. Looking like weekends are going to be the best bet. It really is a case of me putting my priorities in order, and work has to come first. There are some football trades that I've been doing as they don't require me to have as much attention as the horses, and they've been going ok.

16th Sept

So got back to trading today which felt nice, and actually didn't feel too rusty either. Got on a handful of trades and all went well. Still using the same method and ideas as previously.  All done pre off and this time nothing got twitchy at all. All nicely greened up. Felt nice to be honest getting back to doing a bit, and made me realise a bit of a break away isn't the end of the world. The racing is always going to be there.

15th Sept

Wow, work has been super busy this week. So much so that I've not even opened Betangel up yet. Frustrated because I don't want to feel like I'm starting all over when I finally load things up again. We'll see though. It's always the quandary when things in personal/work life are going so well but demands so much of the time, and you want to trade. The day job pays the bills and keeps a roof over our heads. That should always come first. Hopefully I'll get some time over the weekend to trade though.

9th September

Saturday and I've managed to get a few trades in this afternoon. I've not done the entire session, but got a handful in. @David mentioned in a blog a couple of days about do I get time at least once a week to focus on a full session? Well, the easy answer is no. At weekend's there's always something that I feel gets in the way.....women! lol There's always something that they want to do, and they can't accept that this trading thing takes up so much time, when a weekend is supposed to be when we are together and do stuff. So I don't think I'll even be able to devote that amount of uninterrupted time. I'll have to make do with what and when I can. Today I've recorded some of my trades using the built in screen recorder in windows 10 which is handy. I've uploaded the videos to my Youtube account and made them private so hopefully only people with the link will be able to view them

Nothing done today again due to work. Having said that in previous entries I have mentioned how I use charts to aid me in my trading, so thought I'd show a quick capture of the one I am using at the moment. Mainly because @David asked me So the blue line is the highest traded price, and the red line is the lowest traded price. The other bits are based on last traded price and price envelope bands. What I try to do is find the runner usually from the first 2 or 3 where price is at the high or low of the traded price, then start to use the ladder and the 60 second range. I can also see from the chart any short term support and resistance areas which could be useful to identify entries or exits.

7th September

So really struggled to find time again today due to work. Really finding it hard at the moment to try and get any trading in at all.  It's very hit and miss. I managed to trade 2 races, which although ended positive, isn't really good enough to develop any sort of confidence, or enough volume to practice with. So finding it very frustrating at the moment due to the time constraints. Below is the result of the 2 races I did manage to trade.

6th September

So still not done much this week in terms of trading, work has been really busy and evenings life has sort of got in the way. Having said that I have done a little bit this afternoon, and it is just a little bit lol Still sticking to the same principles as before. Looking for the 60 seconds range and trading that. I've also been playing with advanced charts, and getting those setup to compliment what the ladder is showing me. Early days yet on that, but I'm wary of not over complicating things.

Day 6

Almost forgot the day number to add to this blog, might start just putting the date as the title, that would be easier for me to remember lol Didn't do any trading yesterday at all. One of things that I really struggle with is trading weekends. There's always so much other stuff to do. Life stuff, so as a result trading Saturdays and Sundays is a little bit hit and miss. So it's Sunday today, and I'm currently sat about to watch the Italian GP. I may get a chance later to do some trading, but not sure yet. Thinking about the week ahead, and opportunities, I am thinking about how to identify the best races to trade on. At the moment when I get chance to trade, I'm just doing every race. Don't know if this is the smart way or not. I may well have another read through the @Tomas 's manual today as well, and watch some of the videos.

Day 4

Felt better today. Had a good solid sleep and feel a bit clearer mentally. Work has got in the way though and I've not managed to do all that much. Had some of my B2L system trades, and a few manual trades. the trades in the red box are my manual ones for today. Consistent at least, and not showing a loser for those so I'm happy at that.

Day 3

Done a few races today but haven't really felt it. Feels like I've not got a good read on it or any sort of flow. Could be just due to me feeling super tired.  Had a rubbish nights sleep and have been away since 5:30am Glad I've written this, as it's sort of made me realise that if I'm feeling like this, it's best to walk away as I'm not mentally clear.

Day 2

So not much done today due to work. I managed to get on 4 or 5 races again sticking to the strategy of trading the 60 second range, and taking into account round numbers. I've boxed the trades that I took manually on the image, the other trades are just part of an automated strategy that I've been running.

Day 1

29th August So had chance to look at some of the evening races tonight. I must admit it's going to be hit and miss depending on work and life stuff, but tonight been able to get a few on. Some positive results and some negative. I've stuck to just trying to trade the 60 second range off the ladder and using the BF graphs to judge the price action in and around the round numbers. Nearly came unstuck a few times when I placed the bet and almost instantly went against me a couple of ticks.
